Yorkshire Tea National Cricket Week starts today


It’s back! Yorkshire Tea National Cricket Week returns and what a week for it. The sun is out across the country and there’s no excuses needed to get out and enjoy the nation’s favourite summer sport.

This week, we’ll be holding five flagship events in different parts of the country with some familiar faces coming out to support the charity and to inspire children to play and learn through cricket. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels and we’ll be letting you know all about what’s going on across the country.

Ncw 16As well as playing some cricket out on the fields, we’re encouraging schools to bring the sport into the classroom and turn their timetables over to cricket. This could be: taking part in our Junior Journalist competition, learning about the Test-playing nations in Geography or using cricket-themed Maths lessons from the ECB Ashes Challenge.

The week also serves as an opportunity to showcase the work that Chance to Shine does and this Yorkshire Tea National Cricket Week, each of our flagship events will highlight a different part of our programme. We’ll be hosting an event at one of Street projects, at a Secondary School, Primary School, SEN School and having a day focusing on Girls’ cricket too!
