As England and India go eyeball to eyeball for the first time this summer at Lord's, we're asking cricket fans to help us celebrate the inaugural 'Chance to Shine Awareness Day' during the 1st Test. The aim of the day is twofold: to promote our campaign to the general public and to raise funds that will help keep the campaign running.

Thanks to support from Marylebone Cricket Club, the England and Wales Cricket Board and Chance to Shine&'s principal partner Brit Insurance, there will be a range of ways for fans to show their support on the day at Lord's. For example, special limited edition Chance to Shine wristbands will be on offer around the ground for a voluntary £1 donation; while our Chance to Shine tie can be bought from the Lord' shop - the sale of one tie will pay for a year of Chance to Shine coaching for a child. Supporters can also buy a seat, via justgiving, on the Chance to Shine: http://c2sstadium.chancetoshine.org/

Young people who have benefited from Chance to Shine will play a major role on 21 July: youngster Shakil Karim from Northwood School in Hertfordshire will help start the day by acting as the official England mascot, joining Andrew Strauss and MS Dhoni for the coin toss.

Later, Chance to Shine schoolchildren will take part in cricket activity on the pitch during the lunchtime interval. The participating children took part in a national MCC Spirit of Cricket competition last month and designed adverts promoting the MCC's 'play hard, play fair, have fun' message. The winning schools were Belleville Primary (Wandsworth), Hildenborough CE Primary (Tonbridge), Charlton Kings Junior School (Cheltenham), Camp Primary School (St. Albans) and their successful designs can be viewed on the reverse.

An article by Chance to Shine ambassador Graeme Swann explaining why he backs the campaign can be read in the match programme.
