Cricket-themed geography lessons, beach cricket, England players in school assemblies, yes, Brit Insurance National Cricket Day is back and it's bigger than ever!

Following the success of last year's event when hundreds of schools from Cornwall to Durham took part in a day of cricket-themed activity in classrooms and playgrounds across the country, we're busy planning Brit Insurance National Cricket Day 2012. With the West Indies touring England at the same time, the event will be Caribbean themed. So get your thinking caps on for activities filled with food, music, colour and even maybe beach cricket!

Chris Tremlett, Charlotte Edwards and Graham Onions were among the England cricketers who went back to school for last year's event and in London, a host of cricket-related VIPs including Sir Mervyn King, Mark Nicholas and Lucy Verasamy helped turn an inner-city primary school into a 'Dream Cricket School' for the day. We are expecting a similar host of cricket celebs and VIPs to join us this year.

We're calling on all club managers, coaches and teachers now to keep Tuesday 22nd May free for Brit Insurance National Cricket Day and to watch out for further details on our website, including how to register, that will follow soon.
