We'd like to say a big thank you to Chance to Shine supporters Sarah and Euan Bremner, who tied the knot back in February.

The happy couple celebrated their special day with their family and friends who, instead of buying the newly-weds gifts, were encouraged by Sarah and Euan to make donations to Chance to Shine and The Lymphoedema Support Network instead.

This remarkably generous gesture raised a fantastic £8,265 from guests and well-wishers, and has been split equally between the two charities. Euan, a cricket enthusiast, said "I am a firm believer in the power of sport as a medium to assist young people with the challenges they face today. There are many sport-based charities out there trying to improve youth education and social inclusion but I have long been impressed with Chance to Shine.

Like most couples, Sarah and I wanted our wedding weekend to be memorable for all concerned. Everyone told us to savour the occasion as it would pass in a flash so we wanted to do something which would have a lasting impact. Asking for charitable donations in lieu of gifts seemed an obvious thing to do.

Whilst it is nice to receive such gratitude from the charities involved, the people who deserve the most thanks are our families and guests who made very generous donations, the Chance to Shine Ambassadors who raise awareness of the charity and the employees and volunteers at Chance to Shine who do an incredible job.

Sarah's sister Helen was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. Thankfully, after surgery she is healthy, but as a consequence she lives with a life-long condition called Lymphoedema, affecting her on a daily basis. The Lymphoedema Support Network are undertaking much needed research and raising awareness about this condition, which affects many cancer survivors.

We're incredibly grateful to the Bremners for their support of our mission to spread the power of cricket and we wish them a very long and happy life together.

Are you inspired by Sarah and Euan's story? Do you have a big celebration coming up? It's easy, fun and can be incredibly rewarding to raise funds for Chance to Shine.
