Finn's school gets Chance to Shine at Lord's Pupils from Steve Finn's old school, Cassiobury Junior School in Watford will share the Lord's outfield with the England and Middlesex bowler on Friday 17 May, as they take part in a cricket demonstration during the lunch interval of the Test Match between England and New Zealand. Cassiobury Junior School, which is one of 4,500 Chance to Shine schools from across the country, was selected to take part in the lunchtime demonstration at Lord's, as a reward for how the children have embraced the MCC Spirit of Cricket message of playing hard, but fair. Finn recalled: "It's absolutely great that children from my old school are getting the opportunity to play at Lord's today through Chance to Shine's ongoing partnership with the MCC Spirit of Cricket initiative. "I remember running in to bowl on the playground at Cassiobury and always dreamed of playing at Lord's. The reality is very special, so I hope they enjoy the experience as much as I do every time I play here for England and Middlesex." Today also represents the first of a series of fundraising and awareness days for Chance to Shine, which will take place at some of the Test grounds across the country this summer. Throughout the day Chance to Shine wristbands and ties will be available at various points around the Ground in return for a voluntary donation of £1 and £20 respectively. At the start of the summer term, MCC and Chance to Shine relaunched an ongoing partnership to help teach young people how to play sport in a competitive but fair spirit. As part of the nationwide scheme to encourage fair play, in 2013 Chance to Shine coaches will deliver MCC Spirit of Cricket assemblies and lessons in good sportsmanship to around 400,000 children in 4,500 state schools. During the summer, pupils will also have the chance to compete for their very own Ashes Urn, as 1,500 replica urns have been distributed to Chance to Shine schools across the country, as a result of the partnership with MCC.
