England Women cricketers Kate Cross and Danielle Wyatt paid a special visit to Waitrose Cheadle Hulme yesterday (27 April) to announce a series of national Chance to Shine Summer Camps.

Danni and Kate, both named in the Lancashire Thunder Kia Super League team, helped spread the word about the camps to customers at the supermarket, as part of cricket charity Chance to Shine's ongoing partnership with England Cricket sponsor Waitrose.

The cricketers encouraged children to book their place on the Lancashire camp, taking place at Stretford Cricket Club in Manchester on Wednesday 27th July.

Professional cricket coaches will run the one-day camps during the summer holidays for boy's and girl's aged six to 12. Places are just £10 per child and all levels of ability are welcome. Participants will learn new skills, make friends and most importantly have fun. Parents and teachers can find out more and book a place for their children.

Waitrose are supporting the camps over the summer and the retailer will donate £5 to Chance to Shine for every participant that signs up.

Speaking at the event, Manchester-born Kate Cross said, Its great to come and spread the word about Chance to Shine's summer cricket camps here in Waitrose Cheadle Hulme. It's brilliant to meet so many children enthusiastic about the game, especially the girls who are really getting into the sport in droves. We'll look forward to seeing many of them this summer at our holiday cricket camps.

Her team-mate Danni, added, I'm excited to be in Cheadle Hulme promoting Chance to Shine's summer camps. It's a great opportunity for local children looking for an activity during the holidays and, at just £10, it's a great deal for parents too! There are only a limited number of places at each camp so I'd urge everyone to book sooner rather than later to avoid missing out.

Shoppers at Waitrose Cheadle Hulme were excited to meet the international cricket stars who took time to share their cricket tips, sign autographs, take selfies and talk to customers about the upcoming cricket camps.

Waitrose Cheadle Hulme Branch Manager Alison Neilson, said, "It was great to be part of the launch today. Families doing the after school shop were excited to meet Kate and Danni and learn more about the camp taking place in Manchester this summer. And there were lots of double takes as the ladies helped out on the tills and helped pack shopping."

Waitrose Head of Marketing, Rupert Ellwood said, "We are looking forward to supporting the camps this summer. Chance to Shine do such great work in getting children more active and cricket is a great way to learn important life skills like teamwork. We hope these camps will inspire the next generation of players."

Chance to Shine Summer Camps will take place nationwide this summer and other locations include: Bristol (31/5), Worcester (3/6), Leeds (28/7), London (1/8), Leicester (2/8), Canterbury (3/8), Maidenhead (9/8) and Birmingham (10/8).

Chance to Shine is spreading the power of cricket to state schools and communities in England and Wales. The charity has inspired three million children to take up the game over the past 10 years, half of whom are girl's. Kate and Danni are among the seven of England Women who act as Chance to Shine coaching ambassadors to inspire young people to play cricket. This summer, donations from the public to Chance Shine will be personally matched pound for pound by one of the charity's Patrons Adrian Beecroft.
