A number of former and current England players travelled across the country to help coach and inspire children at our all day summer cricket camps, supported by Waitrose.

Children from London to Manchester to Canterbury gathered at local cricket clubs and sports centres for a full day of professional cricket coaching, a ride on Waitrose's smoothie bikes and, for a lucky few, a chance to ask their cricketing heroes their most burning questions!

Speaking about the camps, Chance to Shine's Corporate and Events Manager, Claire Hall said, Its fantastic to see so many children take part and enjoy the camp. The excitement and skill shown here to today proves that cricket has a strong future in this country and, as a charity, we aim to spread the power of cricket to as many young people as possible.

Ambassadors who joined us included Former England stars James Taylor, Lydia Greenway and Susie Rowe, current England Women's Kate Cross and Ireland and Leicester player Niall O Brie.

Speaking about the Manchester camp, James Taylor said, Today's been fantastic! It's good to see so many boys and girls excited about playing cricket. These opportunities are so important for young cricketers to develop their skills whilst playing with their friends. I'm very happy to be here supporting Chance to Shine and the camps.

Lydia Greenway, who attended the Leicester and Birmingham camps, spoke about her involvement with Chance to Shine, I'm so pleased to be involved with Chance to Shine's summer camps - it's so important to encourage and support budding cricketers. Young people need to know that cricket is open to all and it's a great way to learn skills, like teamwork and help boost your confidence whilst having fun with your friends!

Waitrose supported the organisation and running of the camps, providing a fantastic packed lunch, which the participants could take home, as well as setting up a selection of smoothie bikes which never failed to rouse excitement at every camp. The retailer also showed their support to Chance to Shine by donating £5 to Chance to Shine for every participant that attended the camps.

Waitrose Head of Marketing, Rupert Ellwood said, "Chance to Shine do such great work in getting children more active and cricket is a great way to learn important life skills like team work. We hope these camps will inspire the next generation of players.

Chance to Shine would like to thank Waitrose and all ambassadors, coaches and volunteers for helping to spread the power of cricket across the country and inspire the next generation of players.
