Friday 27th May Big match against Newcastle School for Boy's

On Friday afternoon, Northumberland U11's played against Newcastle School for Boys Under 12's at South Northumberland cricket ground in Gosforth missing half a day at school yeah!!

Northumberland won the toss and chose to bat first on a great wicket for batting. It was all looking great for Northumberland until a brilliant catch on the boundary broke the opening partnership (I was out for 12!!). Another wicket fell quickly after, but the other opener, Alfie, went on to make a brilliant 24 before retiring some great shots and quick running!!

However what brought Northumberland back into the game to post a good score of 99 for 3, was the 2 Tynedale players Jake and Archie with some big hitting in the last few overs.

Some good batting early on from NSB but this was broken by Aaron. What a start for Aaron on his first County game!! Anyway, with one wicket down, the next wicket didn't fall for ages and the NSB batters ran hard and hit boundaries it was looking tough for Northumberland with 19 needed off of 4 overs!!

Until George Darwood bowled his 2nd ball and removed the other opener (caught and bowled off a leading edge) then Lizzy came onto bowl at the other end and made another break through with a wicked delivery!! George took his second wicket (hitting the top of off stump his coaches would be happy!) and taking his third wicket with his last ball (ending up 3 for 3 off 2 overs). Lizzy finished the 20 overs and NSB ended up on 89.

So it's 3 out of 3 for Northumberland U11's so far this season could they go on and beat Cleveland on Friday 10th June keep reading the blog to find out!!!
