England cricket stars swapped cricket whites for chef whites this week (18 September) to raise funds for Chance to Shine. England captain Alastair Cook joined Jonathan Trott, Andrew Strauss and Graham Thorpe in the Lord's kitchen as they each prepared a course for 'Chance to Dine', a charity themed 'cook off' at Lord's.

All four chefs prepared a dish for the event with the expert eyes of Ainsley Harriott and Mark Nicholas watching on.

With the MCC chefs on hand to give assistance, Jonathan Trott prepared a Crab Ravioli to start whilst Graham Thorpe worked on a Thai Duck Salad. The main course was a Chicken, Ham and Leek Pie, put together by former England captain Andrew Strauss and dessert was served by Alastair Cook. Cook used his wife's secret Brownie recipe to great effect, with Jonathan Trott spending 15 minutes licking the bowl after the brownies went into the oven.

During dinner, the chefs had their dishes judged by food critics Giles Coren, Ed Baines and Ainsley before being subjected to the diners' votes. Cook, once again emerged victorious by narrowly pipping Andrew Strauss to the Chance to Dine title.

The inspiration behind Chance to Dine was John Fingleton, a long term supporter of Chance to Shine, who also kindly agreed to be the auctioneer for the evening and helped to raise invaluable funds for the charity.

Special thanks must go to Laithwaite's for kindly providing the wine for the evening as well and Kingfisher and Avlaki for supplying the beer and olive oil respectively.
