Competition winners have a ball at Lord's Earlier this month (13th June) Chance to Shine teamed up with ESPNcricinfo to give pupils from Wallington High School for Girls a once in a lifetime cricketing masterclass at Lord's Indoor School. The session was conducted by ex-England internationals Alex Tudor, Peter Such and former Notts cricketer Jim Hindson. Their day to remember also included a tour of the Home of Cricket. Wallington High School were given the opportunity to win this special prize by entering a competition on the Cricinfo website and answering a cricket based question. The day started by introducing the girls to the key fielding skills needed by any cricketer throwing and catching. Alex Tudor and Peter Such gave a demonstration before the girls were given the chance to practice their own techniques. After receiving advice and guidance from the ex-pros on their fielding, the girls' bowling technique was examined. Alex Tudor and Peter Such offered their advice on how to help improve the girls' bowling actions before the penultimate part of the session batting and running between the wickets. After the girls' batting and running skills were carefully analyzed they were challenged to a series of mini activities to highlight the importance of possessing the correct technique. The session was brought to a close with a competitive game. Alex Tudor and Peter Such were the team captains as the girls were given the opportunity to demonstrate what they had learned throughout the day. It was a hard fought match which went down to the wire, with the result being decided on the final ball.
