Chance to Shine Impact Report 2019 After the incredible success of the England Cricket team on Sunday, Chance to Shine today (Tuesday 16 July) publishes its Impact Report which looks at how the charity has made a difference to children and young people across the country in the last completed academic year. Read the latest Impact Report here. The charity reached over 550,000 children and young people in schools and communities across the country, giving them the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket. Chance to Shine delivered sessions in 1 in 4 state primary schools and 134 Street cricket projects that are based in some of the most disadvantaged communities in England and Wales. As part of the report, over 3,500 children and nearly 900 teachers were surveyed: 86% of children said that they had fun in their sessions 69% of children said they had or they would like to play more cricket outside of school 88% of primary teachers said their school was planning to continue coaching cricket 81% of teachers said their pupils had improved confidence after the sessions The report has also highlighted some amazing examples of the work that is going on with the help of the 39 county cricket boards. These include the story of Rosabella (pictured), a six-year-old from Cheshire who has a brain tumour that restricts her optic nerve and has left her with around 10% of the sight of her classmates. Through playing cricket, Rosabella has grown significantly in confidence and it has improved her co-operative working skills as well as encouraging her to take part in other physical activities. Rosabella told us "It's really nice for me to do it because I can't see as well as everybody else and playing cricket makes me feel like I can." Read the latest Impact Report here. Until the end of September, donations to Chance to Shine are being doubled by the England & Wales Cricket Board.
