England cricketer and three-time Chance to Dine winner Alastair Cook returned to the scene of his victories to bake his winning chocolate brownies with Marylebone school children at Lord's.

Alastair was joined by pupils from St Edward's Primary School on Friday 28 April, who followed his instructions to re-produce the dish that clinched a hat trick of wins at the annual cricketing cook-off.

After sharing his recipe and lending the school students a hand with their mixing bowls, Alastair gave them a special guided tour of the Lord's Pavilion. He gave an exclusive behind the scenes look at the dressing rooms and talking them through his own experiences of playing cricket at the highest level.

The pupils headed over to the Lord's Indoor School where they were given a special cricket coaching session by Alastair, supported by a Middlesex Cricket Board coach. Alastair helped the students with their batting and bowling technique and gave them some top tips on improving their game.

Chance to Dine is an annual fundraising event where four chefs from the cricketing world face-off, each cooking a course for the guests. The event, which takes place in the Long Room at Lord's, then sees the guests vote for their favourite dish with the winning being crowned at the end of the night. In 2016 the event, supported by Waitrose for the last three years, was won by fast-bowler Stuart Broad. Broad's chicken liver parfait beat off competition from Mark Butcher, Graeme Swann and Test Match Special's Jonathan Agnew.

Chance to Shine is a national cricket charity on a mission to spread the power of cricket throughout state schools. Since 2005, they have taken the game to over 3 million children in more than 13,000 state schools across the country. As well building their cricketing skills, Chance to Shine focus on the valuable character education taught by cricket including communication, leadership and fair play.

Speaking at the event, Alastair Cook said I hope the children have had a great day today, we've had a lot of fun making some excellent chocolate brownies. Chance to Shine is a charity incredibly close to my heart and is doing some amazing work to spread the power of cricket across the country.

They give children like these here today the opportunity to play the game and learn the valuable lessons it teaches. Chance to Dine is a brilliant event, a great night and a fantastic way to raise funds for the charity.

Abiha, aged 10, said This has been a very inspiring day for me, to meet an England player and to play some cricket with him. One day I'd like to play for England as well. We also got to make some chocolate brownies which was really fun!
