National Cricket Week Every year, pupils all over the country, from Newquay to Newcastle, enjoy a week of cricket-themed activity in the classroom, on the playground and in local communities as part of Yorkshire Tea National Cricket Week. What is Yorkshire Tea National Cricket Week? It's an opportunity to celebrate the sport, to inspire children to take part in cricketing activities and to showcase the work that Chance to Shine does in bringing the game to hundreds of thousands of children every year. We support schools to take part in some cricket activity one day during the week, whenever is convenient. “The children were buzzing and still are talking fondly of all parts of the day. So many were truly inspired.” – Headteacher, Yorkshire National Cricket Week 2020 resources How you can get involved We would love for all schools to use the opportunity of National Cricket Week to get their pupils playing cricket. It doesn’t need to be every day of the week, just whenever you can fit it in. Play Why not give your pupils a great first experience of cricket with a Chance to Shine session. Access the FREE digital resources on our Schools’ Portal: teachers.chancetoshine.org. Or you could hold an inter-school competition with your local rivals or have the pupils take on the teachers! Learn Try one of our cricket-themed literacy or numeracy lessons. They’re available on our Schools’ Portal. Support from the world of cricket Every year we are honoured to be supported by some of the biggest names in cricket. Through the years we’ve had England captains past and present like Joe Root, Alastair Cook, Michael Vaughan and Charlotte Edwards visiting schools and communities across the country.
