Diversity Expand Chance to Shine’s commitment to reflect, support and celebrate the diversity of the communities where we operate is fully embedded in our purpose – to inspire all young people to play and learn through cricket - and our organisational values: passionate, inclusive, inspiring, ambitious and fun. Chance to Shine maintains a Diversity Action Plan (DAP) covering Recruitment, Engagement and Progressing Talent from within. This plan contains short, medium and long terms goals and can be found in this section of the website. In 2019 the charity continued our commitment towards this important piece of work by: Providing Inclusion and Diversity training for all staff members Maintaining Board gender diversity at 33% and of the Senior Management Team at 40% Establishing a Development Board for the charity as part of Board strategy and succession planning Conducting its first annual staff survey, seeking views on the organisation, teams, individuals' roles and how they are supported personally and professionally Increasing BAME representation amongst staff Diversity of participation and equality is of huge importance to Chance to Shine. 49% of all participants are girls and 81% of Chance to Shine Street participants are from a BAME background. Our programmes aim to support all young people to benefit from cricket. In addition to the above, Chance to Shine places a strong emphasis and focus on wellbeing and we pride ourselves on the difference that we make to young people's physical, mental, personal and social wellbeing through our programmes. That same focus is reflected in supporting our staff. In 2019, Chance to Shine launched its first wellbeing commitment which was developed in conjunction with staff. The commitment and resultant progress is monitored throughout the year and, for example has led to providing an enhanced maternity and paternity policy and a commitment to provide Mental Health First Aid training to all staff.
