Not long after leaving the University of East Anglia, Ian started out as a volunteer with the charity by assisting the major gifts team, contributing to prospect research and helping out with events. After five months of supporting the team in this way, Ian was offered a permanent role within the team as a Fundraising assistant.

Ian’s role within the team has developed over time and currently encompasses responsibility for regular giving, community and schools fundraising and the upkeep of Chance to Shine’s fundraising database. Ian says that he continues to be inspired by what’s being achieved by the charity and thinks that the best part of his job is getting out and seeing the Schools and Street projects in action.

He’s also very grateful for the opportunities that come with working for the charity at the Oval. These have included: batting on the hallowed turf; evenings spent with colleagues at the T20s; and the opportunity to express himself as a food critic on national television when Celebrity Masterchef was filmed at the ground.

His proudest achievement away from the office is raising money for Shelter by successfully completing a 15 mile run through the streets of London and he looks forward to taking on his next challenge.
