England cricket captains reunite for a Chance to Ride

Former England captain Andrew Strauss joined his predecessor Michael Vaughan on the 'PruProtect Chance to Ride' charity bike ride on 12th September, leaving from Edgbaston Stadium.

Vaughan is leading a host of sports stars and fundraisers on the event, which is raising funds for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Chance to Shine.

The peloton traveled across the Brecon Beacons covering 140 miles and ended at Cardiff's SWALEC Stadium for the fourth NatWest One Day International on Saturday.

Strauss, who retired from first class cricket last summer, is the second most successful captain of the English modern era in terms of wins, second only to his former opening partner Vaughan.

He said: "If you had asked me a few years ago if I would ever be riding a peloton with Michael Vaughan I would have laughed at you. We've been great mates for many years, though, and I'm delighted to get the chance to fundraise with him for Laureus and Chance to Shine."

Vaughan, who has been joined by other stars including British cycling champion Victoria Pendleton, commented: "There's nothing like a bit of healthy competition between old team-mates and I'll be making sure Andrew has sight of my rear wheel for the duration of his ride! It's great to have him along and hopefully we'll be able to raise significant funds for the two charities."

The PruProtect Chance to Ride peloton is following the England v Australia - NatWest One Day International series, which started at Headingley, Leeds, on 6th September, traveling to each of the venues before ending in London on 17th September.
