Ex-Notts player runs for Chance to Shine

A former Notts player is currently putting in the hard yards of training as he prepares to run the Brighton Marathon for Chance to Shine supported by Brit Insurance. Jim Hindson, a former slow left-arm orthodox spinner, is undertaking the challenge and hopes to raise funds for the campaign.

Jim has a long history in the game and after retiring from professional cricket he took up a career with the players’ body, the Professional Cricketers' Association. Jim became deputy editor of All Out Cricket magazine before joining Bowles Associates in January 2010.

Commenting on his training Jim said:

“I know what cricket has given to me over the years and I want other people to have those opportunities. I only ever played two games at my school but I was lucky enough to receive coaching at my club and to play professionally. Cricket can give young people confidence in themselves and also as part of a team. Chance to Shine does a fantastic job and I hope I can do myself justice for the charity. Training has been going well although my Achilles is sore at the moment as I think I’ve been pounding the roads too much!”

Claire Hall, Partnerships Development Manager at the Cricket Foundation said:

“It’s fantastic that Jim is undertaking this massive challenge in aid of Chance to Shine. It means such a lot to the charity to see people from the cricketing world supporting us and we wish Jim all the best for what is sure to be a challenging but rewarding experience. Good luck Jim!”
